StarCast makes it easy to develop or import exams that may be attached to individual StarCast courses or used as stand-alone elements. Testing enhances the learning process by giving users immediate feedback on their mastery of the information, and by giving you hard performance data on the progress of trainees.
How it Works - StarCast’s
basic testing module (included with the Core system) allows you to have an unlimited number of
questions in a true/false or multiple-choice format. Tests may be attached to courses or
webcasts, or used as stand-alone elements. Minimum passing scores may be set, and tests are
scored instantly and automatically, so users see results immediately.
Test Reports - Test
statistics are available from a report menu that shows answers and scores for each user and
summary statistics for aggregated users. Reports are exportable to Excel for further analysis.
Advanced Testing -
An upgrade of the Core System Test feature, Advanced Testing gives your organization the flexibility
to craft exams with more interactive elements. Features include additional test formats,
scrambled-order tests (drawn from a larger pool of questions), the ability to add questions to
specific StarCast Course Slides, User-Reviewable Exams, timed exams, and much more. learn more
Advantages of Testing
1. Testing is a powerful motivational tool. When students get feedback right away, their interest and desire to "get it right" remains high.
2. Testing yields better long term retention than repeated studying.
3. Tests enhance course participation.
4. Tests can be used as prerequisites for advanced courses, which saves time and insures people are working at the right level.
5. Tests can be used to filter trainees for participation in advanced OJT or classroom training and only allow proqualified trainees to attend. Pre-leveling through testing makes for a more balanced classroom session because everyone is at or above a pre-determined level of knowledge.
6. Tests allow you to accurately determine knowledge levels and manage your learning program from hard data.
7. Researchers report that tests conducted over the Internet yield similar results to standard paper-and-pencil tests in a traditional classroom, leading to the conclusion that online tests can be as valid and reliable as any other kind of exam.
8. Test scores provide positive proof to regulatory agencies that the information has been understood.
