View Advanced Testing Demo Movie ModulesModules - Advanced Testing adds the following additional attributes to basic StarCast Tests:
  • Random Subset & Scrambled Order: This allows you to have exams that are composed of subset of questions dynamically generated from a larger pool of questions, and presented in a scrambled order, ensuring that each user sees a different test. This attribute is helpful when you have large numbers of users taking exams in training labs where each trainee sits close to other trainees or where screens are easily viewed by others. For example, each exam may be comprised of 40 questions that are randomly pulled from a pool of 65 questions, with each separate test displaying its 40 questions in a scrambled order.
  • Subset of Question for Specific Slides: Allows you to attach specific questions to particular slides. For, example, you may select 5 specific questions that appear immediately following slide 12, and relate to the information in slides 1-12. As the course developer, you have the option of allowing the user to advance, or not, based on the number of correct answers to the subset of questions. This option greatly enhances the learning process by challenging the user at interim points throughout the course.
  • Weighted Questions: Allows you to assign different weighting to each question. When used with Random Subset, the reports module normalizes each exam in a series so scores are comparable.
  • Additional Formats: In addition to the standard question formats of true/false and multiple-choice, Advanced Testing allows you to develop questions in additional formats, such as matching lists, click the correct answer from a picture, and others.
  • Reviewable: This allows users to review the results of their exam, question by question, immediately after submitting their test. This significantly enhances the learning process by allowing users to read explanations on each question about the correctness or incorrectness of their answer.
  • Do-Over Limit: Allows you to set the number of times an exam may be retaken before the user is blocked from additional attempts. Range extends from one sitting (zero Do-Overs) to unlimited. Also allows you to specify that an e-mail notification is sent to that user's first-level-up-manager when the test is failed.
  • Timed Exam: Allows you to set a time limit for exams. Once the time limit is reached, the exam is automatically submitted and the user's score is immediately computed.
  • Enforced Order: Allows you to specify that users must view every slide in a training course in its entirety before taking the exam. Users are allowed to jump back to previously viewed slides at any time, but are prevented from advancing past the current viewing point. This option is to generally used to satisfy auditing agencies such as the FDA who require proof that users viewed all course content.
