This guide will help familiarize you with how to get
the most out of the StarCast Recorder, hereafter referred to as the Recorder.
The general purpose of the Recorder is to help you produce course material for use in the StarCast
System. The general workflow tends to follow this pattern:
- A Knowledge Expert creates (or modifies) a MicroSoft PowerPoint Presentation relating to the subject matter at hand.
- A Knowledge Expert writes a script or an outline for the narration that will accompany this presentation.
- A Voice Talent records the narration, editing and re-recording until satisfied.
- A Knowledge Expert optionally adds animations or embeds other training videos to enhance the visual impact of the training material.
- A Training Administrator publishes these materials to the StarCast System, whereupon they are converted for playback through an ordinary web browser.
- Stakeholders review and refine the material, repeating steps as necessary.

Note that in a great many cases, all three roles will be performed by the same person.
