Step 2: Select
Your Portals
Once you have determined your target audiences and objectives, you now begin to build a customized
StarCast System that is appropriate for your organization. The first and most important task is to
select your StarCast Portals. Each StarCast Portal is a unique "learning center" where a targeted
audience or individual goes to obtain training and information that you have customized to his or
her responsibilities. For instance, Employees login to their "Employee Portal" to receive job
training, Sales Reps login to their "Sales Portal" to obtain specs for the products they are
selling, and Customers login to their "Customer Portal" to get training on the product they just
purchased from you.
There are 8 StarCast Portals currently available, plus the option for customization. Each Portal is
categorized as either an Internal or External Portal and can be designated as "logged-in space" that
is password protected, or "public space" that is open to anyone on the internet.
Internal Portals
These portals target individuals or groups inside your organization. You always know who they are,
where they work, and who they report to.
Public Portals
These portals target individuals outside your organization. Individuals seeking access may be granted
permission through an online purchase, through a password request, or via a "password-free" link from
your website.
