Step 5: Push
Content to Users
"PUSH" is StarCast terminology that describes the process of getting StarCast Content (courses,
tests, surveys, documents, scheduled webcasts) in front of the people who need it. Information
can be PUSHED to an individual's StarCast Portal (e.g. John Smith, cashier), or to groups (e.g.
salespeople, vendors, regional staff), or to the Library and Resource Center for self-serve
access.
Pushing Content
A "PUSH" can be accomplished quickly and is simple to execute. Your StarCast administrators simply
choose the individuals or groups they wish to target, select the content to be PUSHED, and, with a
couple of mouse clicks, the content is routed to the targeted people.
When they login to your StarCast system, the content you PUSHED sits directly in front of them,
either on their Portal or in the Library and Resource Center. From this same "logged In" portal
space, users will also complete any tests you have included, view documents you have placed in
their library, contribute information to surveys, or join webcasts you have scheduled.
"Portal Push" Flowchart
The chart below illustrates how the portal push process works. Content is built, uploaded to
StarCast, and pushed to users. Users then login to StarCast to attain the courses, documents, or
events that you have PUSHED.
